Perfect Peace

Phillipians 4:6-9   “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.  Those things, which you have and both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do; and the God of peace shall be with you.”

As we read this passage we will note that prayer is an answer to peace.  Of course when we pray we must believe that God will do what we ask or peace will never come.  Another answer to finding peace is after we have prayed and believed we must think on good things.  If we truly believe that God only has good things for His children then it will be easier for us to think on good things.  The question is, do we understand the true nature of God?  Isn’t He the one that said that He gives us a future and a hope?

Isaiah 26:3 “Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee; because he trustest in Thee.”

God is trustworthy.  When all else fails, when no one understands, when no one else is there, God is always there.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.  This truth must be deep within your heart and mind.  When it is, peace, perfect peace will come regardless of the circumstances of life.

The thoughts that come into your mind may come from yourself, from God or from Satan.  Learn to recognize and get to know your own personal thought life.  Take time today to examine what you have been thinking on.  Your future peace depends on it.  Learn to take your thoughts captive to the Word of God, learn to draw near to God, resist the devil and he will flee.  Learn to take God at His Word and believe and trust Him.

Verse 6 tells us do not worry or be anxious about anything, but to pray about everything.  As you cast your cares onto the faithful Lord that releases His peace in your life.  After you pray you must stand in faith and trust in God’s Word.

Now think on these things, whatsoever is:

1.   True
2.   Honest
3.   Just
4.   Pure
5.   Lovely
6.   Good Report
7.   Virtuous
8.   Praise

Perfect Peace is what God has for all of His children.   When you are in a difficult situation remember Peter who was at peace even as he was stoned.  Think on Daniel in the Lions den.  Remember the firey furnace.  If you do not have peace today, ask God to help you know Him for who He is, and to understand His great love for you.  Begin to develop a prayer life of expectation and trust.  God said that He would perfect the things that concern you.  He is in the process of doing just that.  Remember all things work together for good to those that love God and are the called according to His purpose.

He that has begun a good work in you will continue to perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Live today, today!  Enjoy life, it is God’s will.  “I will keep him in perfect peace whos mind is stayed on me”
