Dressed For Battle

God’s Word is the Final Authority.  It cannot be emphasized enough as those of us who profess to be followers of Jesus must then, just as Jesus did, understand that what God has said is the final authority.

Too many times as Christians we are double minded.   There are times that we do not understand the principles of God that are written in His Word and therefore we decide to choose what we think to be a better way.  We somehow forget that His thoughts are not our thoughts and that His ways are higher than ours.

The mind is the battle field.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 amp.   “For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons.  For the weapons of our warfare are not physical (weapons of flesh and blood), but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds.  (Inasmuch as we) refute arguments and theories and reasons and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the (true) knowledge of God; and we lead every thought captive into the obedience of Christ  (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

We are not in battle with people.  To remember this is extremely important, especially when engaged in battle.  We must remember that we are in a spiritual war.  We are the target.  Our minds are challenged by thoughts, reasoning, temptations and everything that opposes the truth of God.  Because many times we do not have the truth in our minds or when we are in rebellion, or doubt that the word of God is the best solution to win the battle, we open a door to deception.  This thought then becomes a stronghold.  It is made up of wrong thinking patterns and attitudes.

What we are instructed to do is to cast down imaginations.  The Greek word for “cast down” means “to violently demolish, to destroy.”   The word “imagination” means “to reason or think.”  We must know the truth of the word so that we can destroy everything that is not truth.  Everything that is not in line with the word of God is to be violently destroyed.  It is so imperative that we understand the consequences of not taking such a stand that we give to room for thoughts that are against the word of God to become a part of our thinking therefore setting the course for our life.

One of our worst enemies is the lack of knowledge, through which people are destroyed.  When Jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will make you free, he was referring to THE TRUTH THAT YOU KNOW.

To know something is having your mind fixed upon it.  There is no being swayed from it.   Remember there is only ONE truth.  Not just knowledge of that truth makes you from, but making that truth the foundation on which you build your decisions and your life.

God’s word is infallible.  It is the only truth.  Ask God for revelation from the Holy Spirit to understand the word of God so that you will win the Battle of the Mind.

This is the beginning of being Dressed For Battle and ready to win every time!
